Starting April 29, registration is open for the 5th edition of the José Luiz Setúbal Foundation Communication Award (FJLS). Created in 2021, the Award has been consolidating itself as one of the main initiatives for recognizing journalistic coverage and content production on child and adolescent health in Brazil.
The Award is one of the Foundation’s strategies to expand and qualify public debate on child and adolescent health, strengthening the institution’s commitment to defending the rights of children and adolescents to healthy development.
“We believe that defending the rights of children and adolescents involves ensuring that society has access to reliable, evidence-based information. This knowledge is essential for building arguments, influencing public policies, and provoking behavioral changes,” highlights José Luiz Setúbal, pediatrician and president of FJLS.
The award recognizes content from journalists, communicators, content producers, and university students from across Brazil who address child and adolescent health with depth, scientific foundation, creativity, and accessibility. The total prize value is R$ 97,200.00, distributed among first and second place winners in six categories — four for professionals and two for students, accompanied by their faculty advisors.
The new feature of this edition is the creation of a popular voting stage, which will allow the public to participate in choosing the best initiatives among the finalists. This change reinforces the democratic and participatory nature of the Award, expanding the reach of the messages and relevant topics recognized.
In addition to the cash prize, winners receive certificates, exclusive trophies, and visibility on the Foundation’s channels, including the Crescer com Saúde podcast, which highlights the winning works and deepens the discussions they bring.
